FYI for anyone coming from the Valley up the 60, you can buy a permit before you get up there at the Ace in Globe, AZ. These two tried to do it without a permit and realized there was a Game and Fish officer there, then were forced to drive an hour out of the way to Whiteriver Junction to get one.
That is good to know. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Great video guys. At 57 I am hoping my wife and I get a chance in the next few years to do this. Awesome reminder that we will definitely need to ramp up our training prior to any attempt to summit. Thanks for all the info.
You can do it! We are 63 and 58 and still going strong. 😀
For detailed information about hiking to the summit of Mt Whitney visit: inspire-to-go.com/hiking-to-the-summit-of-mount-whitney-in-one-day/
Great video! Hope to do this soon. Quick Question, what camera did you use to record. I love the quality and colors.
Thanks. Everything we used and the camera are listed towards the bottom of the blog we did on our Mt Whitney hike. Check out this link: inspire-to-go.com/hiking-to-the-summit-of-mount-whitney-in-one-day/
Congrats ! 7-time summiter here. You came in from Tucson, but I grew up in Pasadena. Climbed Whitney with two friends and a Shelty named Shadow in 1970. Took full packs to the summit and spent the night in the hut (1971). I know your exhilaration. Take it to the bank, and be proud.
Thank you! 👍
congrats!! enjoy!
Thanks for watching! 👍
Awesome video! This was a blast to watch. Great detail in permits and what to expect. Excited to watch through more of your videos!
Thanks for watching and the postive feedback. 👍
Nice! I'm scheduled Oct 23rd for my second shot at this amazing hike. Thanks for the reminder of the highlights so I can keep training hard before October.
Have an awsome hike. Should be the perfect time of the year. You have plenty of time to be summit ready. 👍
This is a gnarly trail. I apparently did not get lost as I followed the dots, but even then it was wicked. I was tempted to turn back, but was too embarrassed by all the teenagers and kids climbing around me. The last 1/3 or 1/4 of this trail is barely a hike - more like a scramble/climb - even tree climbing. The last 15 feet is vertical.
Good job. Like our intro said yes it is a little gnarly towards the summit but worth the effort once you get to the summit of Flatiron. Thanks for sharing!
Great video, I'll definitely use your recommendations when I attempt Mount Whitney in August. Congrats on finishing the hike!
You will get to the summit. Have a great hike. It is an epic one!
Very nice!
Thanks for watching.
You guys rock! Superb stamina and style. It was 1975 when a buddy of mine and I journeyed from Flagstaff to Whitney Portal just to hike up and back in one day, just as you guys did. But we were much younger than you (22 years old), and despite our conditioning, it was exhausting. Thanks for the memories!
Oh thanks! Wow when you did it no permit required. That would be awesome to have the place all to yourself! 😀
Nope, we still had to secure a permit. No big deal.. walk into the local office, pay a few bucks, and we were off.
Amazing!!!
Thanks! 👍
Thanks Lauri! Love you!
The permit info was very helpful. Gives me hope, lol if/when I ever feel up to attempting this hike. Great job! Btw…what time did you all end?
Oh thanks! We finished around 3:30 PM I think. I did not check the time when we finished. 😀
@@InspireToGo You guys are amazing and so inspiring! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
I just did the Rim2Rim2Rim 04/03/24 It took me 27 hours, with a little bit of rest and no sleep but I made it 🙌 is extremely difficult.
Wow that is awesome. Great job! 👍
How do you train downhill? More hiking?
Great question. Find a hike in your area that has a good downhill. We have a 6-mile out and back hike in our area that is a steep 3-mile climb and a 3-miller killer downhill that we will do twice when getting ready for a hike like Whitney or the Grand Canyon that does it for us.
When I was 16 in 1994 (now 46) my friend and I camped there and hiked to constatation lake at the start of the steep switch backs. It was an amazing hike. Back then you didn't need a stupid pass to hike the lands that belong to us!
Constalation Lake, the 3rd lake up at the base of the summit.
It was June and there was still snow at that point
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing. 😀
Great job!
Thanks! 👍
6/24/24, first time ever for me and I summited it. It was wonderful and magical. So proud of myself. Your video brought me flashback
It was most certainly wonderful and magical. Good job and thanks for watching! 👍
Good video. You folks made amazingly good time for a couple of old farts. My average time was 16 hrs. in my early 50's. I am hoping to do it again sometime if not for recent circulation problems in my legs. I can at least still make the hike to Lone Pine Lake for now.
Anytime time is a good time. Hope you are able to get back out on the trail. Thanks for kind words! 😀
Great video!
Thanks Mike! I hope you're doing well. 😀
Fantastic work my friend, views are more than breathtaking 👏👏
Thanks for watching and the kind words!
It was really a wonderful Mt. Whitney hike!! You've shared a video that makes us passionate to watch it. The scenery was very beautiful, and the view was just fantastic!! Thanks for showing and sharing.
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!
Stunning views! Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks for watching and positive feedback!
I've done 2 of these : Grand Canyon SK to BA, and Superstition Flatiron. The GC hike is one of my all time favorite hikes next to Mnt. Whitney. I did it on June 23, 2007, in 12 hours. The temperature at the Indian Garden ranger station was 120º at 3 pm. I drank 7 liters of fluid. I also did some minor hiking in Organ Pipe Cactus. No major trails or significant landmarks, but simply interesting desert landscape, fauna and flora. I ran into a young big horn sheep, a baby tortoise, a tarantula, and a standoff between a rattlesnake and a jackrabbit.
Thanks for watching and commenting. We did Mt Whitney the other day and working on the video now that should be posted in the next couple of days. It was awesome!
The Flatiron trail in Superstitions is gnarly. I didn't know what I was getting into. It certainly has a variety of landscapes and views, but eventually turns into a bushwacking nightmare. The trail gets progressively steeper and less like a trail, until it becomes boulder and tree branch climbing, and navigating by trail markers painted on the rocks. Eventually the last 20 feet or so are vertical. I was tempted to turn back several times, but was embarrassed by the young kids climbing around me. The view at the top is definitely worth the climb, but it helps to be aware of the struggle and mentally prepared.
Planning on trying the Mt. Baldy trail for the first time this August. I love how you have the topographical maps to show the trails! Have you ever tried the Nankoweap Trail in the North Rim of the Grand Canyon? Just came back from there although we didn't go far down into the canyon because of the summer heat.
Thanks for watching and the feedback. No we have yet to do the Nankoweap Trail but it is on our list of hikes to do hopefully this fall. If you do it let us know how it was.
A short but special trail to do would be the Hot Shots memorial trail in Yarnell AZ , I’ve done it once and I’ll be back ❤
Thanks for the suggestion. We will check it out.
Did you have to have a permit for the campground?
Yes the hiking permit for Cibecue falls allowed us to camp on the salt river.
Yes. You can buy a permit in Globe AZ before you get up there. Sounds like these two tried to do it without a permit and had to drive an hour out of the way to get one. I believe you can get a permit at the Ace in Globe, AZ.
Loved it!!!!
Thanks for watching. You have some cool videos. Love the one you did on the AZ dams.
That's a really nicely done video. Great scenery, but also the data on the actual hikes and the Google Earth views are super helpful. Thanks for taking the time!
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!
You guys are beast. It’s a dream for me to do this hike someday. This is amazing.
It is so worth it. A bucketlist hike for sure. One of the best.
Your video is very informative. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures.
THANKS FOR WATCHING AND THE POSTIVE FEEDBACK!
Why Why does this happen?
Great video. Found it from AllTrails!
Awesome glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Please, no diving or floating around the base of the waterfall. You guys made a great video.
Glad you liked the vidoe. Thanks for watching. It is an awesome waterfall!
Wow...I'm adding this to my bucket list!! We have a permit to explore Aravaipa Canyon June 10-12, 2024...lots of creek crossing there to. The beauty of being retired...we'll go eplore the Cibecue Falls during the week...thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. You will like the hike. The waterfall is amazing. Aravaipa Canyon is on our list of hikes to do. Have fun!
My son and I took the bear Canyon route up past seven Falls. This added what I referred to as the useless thousand we then went down the road past the ski park to Summerhaven for a total of 26 miles.
Wow that is a good one. Way to add some miles. Did you do it in one day or did you spend the night on the trail and break it up into 2 days? We did the Bear Canyon Hike and did a video when doing it: ua-cam.com/video/QNRu5pUTwhs/v-deo.htmlsi=N0Lg_Qx22gsOAQB8
9:15 minutes total time. I think we refilled our bottles and filtered at the same spot you did. I have some photos, but I don’t know how to attach them to this post.
@@shandamanmorgan Unfortunaltyl I don't think UA-cam allows photos attachments in the comments.
New subscriber here. Thanks for sharing.
Love it there but fyi for those wanting to go swimming is NOT allowed!
A better choice of words would have been Wading in the water to see the water fall.
Looks nice but 45 per person is a bit steep
Ya I agree, for us it was worth it since we camped out we felt we got our monies worth. You are support the White Mountain Indian Reservation.
Are your feet wet 👀
Just gorgeous episode guys, beautifully explained!
Thanks for watching. What is your next adventure?
Very cool.I've seen pictures them. But, I didn't know they were that rare.
There is easy crested saguaro you can see on Freeman Rd between Speedway and Broadway on the east side of the road.
Oh my goodness! They are so magical! Who knew, Now I do!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
That was such an amazing hike with all those beautiful saguaro cactus! Very interesting facts of the Crested Saguaro!
Bruh
Just arrived in Flagstaff. I heard about this ride but it was not sold to me properly. I am excited to do it now. Thank you. And thanks for the wind comment! nice touch. Also, the two of you average 18mph? That is impressive. My wide averages about 13mph so i guess i will not do this ride with her.
Enjoy! It is an awesome road bike ride. One of the best in the state of Arizona. My favorite! You will like it.
keep your poles out of the rescue box,
Thanks for the upload. Gonna do this one sometime this summer!
You will love it. One of the best road bike rides in Arizona!
